About Jessica

Jessica Lovett is a writer, editor, graphic artist, musician, marketing expert, and homeschool mom who believes learning should feel like an adventure, not a chore.

With a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and an Master of Humanities with an emphasis in Creative Writing, she’s spent the better part of two decades building visual identity systems, mapping communications, managing public relations, designing social media graphics and posts, and creating email campaigns that make missions impossible to miss – working with multiple nonprofits to transform their brand presence from concept to launch.

Her marketing expertise spans brand strategy, content creation, graphic design, project management, and the kind of strategic thinking that turns visions into reality.

She has also worked in literary circles in the graduate studies world, working in a university writing center as a tutor helping students of all levels and the community with all their writing needs. Beyond that, in another life she was a radio deejay and promotions director, writing on-air copy and PSAs.

For the better part of a decade, Jessica served as Lead Editor and Writer for homeschool advocacy organizations, where she produced the monthly Home Educator Express newsletter for 72,000 subscribers, created the Fearless Homeschooling course, lead the editing team, worked with authors, wrote copy for advertisers, and wrote dozens of foundational articles that have guided thousands of families. Jessica also sought out interesting voices in the homeschool community and gave them an outlet for their work and new ways to encourage others and reach larger audiences.

She’s coached hundreds of homeschoolers and answered approximately a million questions from families through one-on-one sessions, webinars, guest podcast appearances, local news interviews, and convention booth Q&As across Texas – whether they’re just starting out or navigating the college admissions maze.

She’s written more articles about homeschooling than she can count, all with the goal of making this journey feel a little less overwhelming and a lot more joyful.

A homeschooling mom herself for over fifteen years, Jessica is passionate about helping families cultivate environments where learning feels less like drudgery and more like fun!

When she’s not writing or coaching, you’ll find her playing piano, guitar, or channeling Animal the Muppet on her drum set , singing with her church worship team and local rock band, the Steep Hollow Band, or curled up with a good sci-fi novel 📖 and her scruffy black dog, Bofur, who is fittingly named for Bofur the Dwarf.

Her literary fiction novel, Transplanting Hope, is available on Amazon, and her writing has been featured across multiple platforms, including her site JessicaDLovett.com.

Jessica was honored to have Journeying Through the Classics reviewed by Cathy Duffy, one of the most respected voices in the homeschool community.

Her conclusion truly captured the heart behind the project:

“Journeying Through the Classics would be phenomenal if it were a program for purchase, but it’s free! This program really scores high in every area: great content, ease of use, academic excellence, flexibility, and affordability.” ~Cathy Duffy, review of Journeying Through the Classics

Jessica is a firm believer that academic excellence should be accessible to everyone. This is why she continues to offer her professional-grade resources, including the “phenomenal” Journeying Through the Classics, at no cost to families.

While the curriculum and her other resources are provided free, the work to maintain and expand it is a significant undertaking.

If you’d like to say “thank you” for the resources Jessica provides, you can support her work by Buying Her a Coffee.

She’s the kind of person who doesn’t believe in giving up and loves getting things done – whether that’s building a brand, being a one-stop IT person for her family and friends, or making homeschool joyful.
